Requirements:
- Degree in BSc (Hons) in General Nursing
- Prison clearance (Civil Justice & Immigration Services)
- Qualified Registered General Nurse
- Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse
- Current valid NMC registration
Duties:
- You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary teams including GPs, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, support workers, dentists, podiatrists, physiotherapists, paramedics, psychological professionals, psychiatrists and a range of prison staff.
- Deliver compassionate care to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds who are vulnerable and have complex health needs.
- Health assessments
- Minor injury and illness
- End of life/palliative care
- Responding to emergency call outs in the prison
- Managing long-term conditions
- Undertaking nurse consultation clinics
- Planned Care – General LTC Clinics (Immigration Services)
- Long-term condition care plans
- Vaccination Clinics
- General Nursing Clinics – bloods, dressing, wound management
- Reception (EDIC)
- Attend reception following handover
- Medication reconciliation – previous day admission
- EBIC checklist log-home office enquires
- PERS (digital and paper copy – CAT A books documentation)
- Planned charters / releases
- Hospital Escorts
- Discharges
- New arrivals
- BBV (blood borne viruses) testing
- Unscheduled care – first response / NIC (Nurse in Charge)
- Emergency bag checks (daily)
